With the Huawei P60 series, Huawei is preparing to mark a return to the flagship era and there are inputs that the phone maker will also bring an “Ultra” model, which could be the biggest camera phone of the year.

Huawei has a long history of dominating the mobile camera world with its unmatched imaging technology. The company began its journey with Leica to bring in the best in the world photography experience for consumers.

These early smartphones with Leica are Huawei P10 Pro, P20 Pro, P30 Pro, P40 Pro+, and P50 Pro. With each model, Huawei invented new technologies and increased camera counts.

P10 Pro has a new dual camera, P20 Pro launched with sharp colors and triple cameras that have been widely adored by customers. P30 Pro established itself as one of the best-selling phones by the tech maker but its camera with its first-ever periscope zoom introduced far-reaching zoom for the smartphone industry.

It has an RYYB color filter array Octa PD autofocus that is the first to use among smartphone makers. Huawei P40 Pro+ became the first phone to launch a five-camera model including an ultra-vision lens that furnishes nighttime photography.

On the other hand, P40 Pro+ has two telephoto cameras – an optical and a periscope camera. These generate 10X optical at 240mm, 3X at 80mm, and 20x Hybrid as well as 100X digital zoom.

The Chinese tech company also brought in the XD Fusion engine which combines the ISP and NPU to provide the best possible camera capabilities. Huawei P50 Pro is one of the best examples of aesthetics and it arranges the camera inside a dual-ring system called Dual Matrix.

Huawei took two steps further and achieved better colors powered by True-Chroma Image Engine, which takes the color accuracy near to the human eye. With these phones, Huawei created a tornado in the smartphone world and a trend that is later followed by the likes of Samsung, Apple, and Chinese phone makers.

Huawei Mate 50 brings eye-catching features to attract consumers. Undoubtedly, huge credit goes to the phone’s hardware and software capabilities. On the other hand, the flagship phone is capable of bringing something to the table that is missing from a flagship.

Today, we are going to look into the dynamic Huawei Mate 50 features that make it an excellent choice for your next phone.

Huawei Mate 50 features

Although Mate 50 series offers plenty but we’ll be targeting 5 for this article:

  • Satellite Communication
  • Smart Scan Code
  • SuperHub Station
  • Variable Aperture
  • Emergency Battery Mode
Beidou Satellite Communication

Huawei Mate 50 is the first smartphone to carry a satellite communication feature. The company has done seamless work to prepare the phone with such advanced technology. As a result, now you can remain connected to your friends and family even without a network.

How does satellite communication work? The feature facilitates the phone through satellite when local connection services are not available.

You can make calls, and send messages or small texts without stressing about the phone’s network or extra data costs.

Interestingly, you can even send a message to those contacts that do not have this feature in their handset.

Huawei Mate 50 features

Intelligent Scanning Code

Huawei has made this feature a little more advance and efficient for its users. The feature comes along with the HarmonyOS 3 operating system as “intelligent scanning code”.

Unlike traditional scanners, the smart scanning code function is faster and more convenient. To access the feature, you only have to face your Mate 50 rear camera to the QR code. Further, a pop-up box will appear on your screen. Now tap on the QR code icon.

SuperHub:

This is a software feature and SuperHub makes it easy for you to share files and fast.

Instead of copy-paste texts or documents, the feature allows you the drag-and-drop gesture (similar to a PC). As a result, you can drag images, texts, and documents from their source to the SuperHub. Thereafter, you can edit and pull out the respective content from the station.

Variable Aperture:

Huawei Mate 50 is powered by XMAGE imaging technology. But another major aspect of the optical camera section is the new variable aperture. Ultimately, the six-blade aperture allows you to maintain the light on the sensor.

Also, you can adjust the camera aperture between f/1.4 and f/4. In comparison to the normal aperture with two stops, Mate 50 powerful aperture exhibits 10 stops and easily adjusts the light exposure.

The aperture plays wonders with the depth of field and background. In other words, you will find better blur effects and highlights in the images. Eventually, the automatic mode and professional mode make the snaps more realistic.

Huawei Mate 50 features

Emergency Battery Mode

This battery mode allows you to enjoy extra three hours of screen time, or 12 minutes on calls, even at 1 percent of battery. Besides, you can flash or turn off the codes 10 times and can scan a code 4 times in the meanwhile.

As soon as the power level reaches 5%, the phone triggers a notification saying “enter an emergency mode in 60 seconds”. This happens as the battery begins activating the preserved cells in the device. Then the entire procedure supplies enough energy that your device can run for more time.

There is still a lot to explore in the Huawei Mate 50 and we expect you to give it a chance.

Huawei Mate 50, and Mate 50 Pro counts as the best flagship in the market, while Mate 50E also serves as the progressive device among consumers. But it’s time to know how the budget-friendly phone differs from the other giant Mate 50 models.

In September, Huawei has unveiled the dynamic Mate 50 series into the real world. The series included the standard model, the Mate 50 Pro variant, RS Porsche Edition, and the cheaper version – Huawei Mate 50E.

All four member of the Mate 50 lineup offers excellent features and characteristics to their users. These features are so exciting that often it becomes a tough choice for consumers to select any of the Mate 50 handsets.

Therefore, it’s an interesting comparison between the Huawei Mate 50E and the other high-end members of the Mate 50 series. These differences will indicate how the cheaper version is special from the other Mate 50 phones.

Huawei Mate 50E vs Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro

1. Display

Huawei Mate 50E features a 6.7-inch straight OLED panel that offers a crystal-clear and transparent look with impressive picture quality. Besides, the device flourishes a 90Hz refresh rate, and 300Hz touch sampling and supports 2D Face verification functions.

Further, it is designed with rounded corners and exhibits a symmetrical layout with a Paris stud design. The overall device looks quite elegant while holding in hand and appears with a smooth glassy finish at the backend.

While the standard Mate 50 appears with the same measurements, the Mate 50 Pro sports a 6.74-inch display. It introduces the notch style (similar to Mate 20 Pro), an in-built 3D lighting sensor, and now also features mask unlocking.

Although, all Mate 50 models are similar in terms of 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and eye protection. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Mate 50E will equally enhance the visual experience for users just like other Mate 50 devices.

Huawei Mate 50E Mate 50 Pro

2. Camera Hood

Another lacking factor is the optical framework. Instead of a triple-cam structure, the Huawei Mate 50E contains dual lenses at the rear side. This includes a 50 MP super optical camera, and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle.

On the front side, you will find a mini 13MP cam at the center of the device’s head. Though the lenses are fewer in number, there is no compromise with the photography experience. Mate 50E has various modes that can enhance your images to the next level.

And let’s not forget about the first-ever XMAGE imaging technology that uplifts the entire image-taking mechanism. Both Mate 50 and Mate 50E does not have the OIS function. Yet they promise to provide such outcomes that you would have never seen before.

3. Power and Performance

In both power and performance, Mate 50E provides good enough services. The phone equips the Snapdragon 778G 6nm process chipset that boosts the entire functioning of the system. On the flip side, it packs a 4460mAh and reflects a 66W fast charging (wired).

However, Mate 50E does not facilitate wireless charging. Meanwhile, Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro are baked with the Snapdragon 8+ processor and supports wireless charging. But that doesn’t show Mate 50E as an inferior model.

Moreover, Mate 50E also carries the HarmonyOS 3.0 operating system and thus, there would be no shortage of efficiency and responsiveness in the system.

The most significant factor of the Mate 50E is, it offers many of the Mate 50 features at an affordable range. Hence, you don’t need to run across huge devices to experience outstanding features.

Though the phone does not have satellite connectivity and some other worthy elements. But we hope that Huawei will soon facilitate the Mate 50E phone with such services.

During the HDC 2022, Huawei held a conference, Bruce Lee, Vice President of Huawei Smart Device Business Group Mobile Phone Product Line explained the launching the launch of the XMAGE camera imaging system.

In July this year, Huawei announced its own imaging brand, XMAGE, to upgrade imaging technology, style, and experience.

In September, the Huawei Mate 50 series was equipped with a super-optical XMAGE imaging system, introducing a number of technological breakthroughs.

XMAGE focuses on four imaging systems: optical system, mechanical structure, imaging technology, and image processing. From the four dimensions of optomechanical computing, the entire system of XMAGE imaging system is combined.

For example – in the optical system, the super-optical variable camera on the Huawei Mate 50 series adopts the technology of variable aperture, which can achieve a ten-stop adjustable aperture at the physical level, bringing technological breakthroughs in three optical systems.

The entire lens module adopts a high-precision component design and assembly process to create a physical large F1.4 aperture.

The overall structure has a total of 23 precision components, including high-precision annular magnetic field micro-control motors, physical aperture blades, and other innovative originals, with a maximum precision of 5-10μm micron level.

The second is a breakthrough in the ability to control the amount of light. It is a technical difficulty of the optical system to realize the technical solution of the variable aperture and match the appropriate amount of incoming light for different light environments, thereby bringing the top imaging effect.

In order to bring precise control of the amount of incoming light, Huawei has pioneered a high-precision full-process calibration and detection solution.

huawei xmage camera

After 20+ versions of blade design and verification, coupled with a set of high-precision drive control algorithms, the 6 metal aperture blades can be physically opened and closed to achieve the effect of a 10-stop aperture change.

Aesthetic design:

The high-reliability aesthetic design is the product gene of the Huawei Mate series. Huawei has pioneered the integrated metal coating solution for the appearance of the blade.

The blade adopts a new material of high-modulus, bright, and high-strength aluminum, which further reduces the structural weight and achieves a 20-fold increase in strength.

In the Huawei Mate 50 RS Porsche design, a 3.2mm ultra-long mechanical stroke motor is also introduced, and the first time in the industry to adopt a dual-mirror group-focusing structure design. It can use the moving focus between the mirror groups for secondary calibration to further improve the optical resolution in macro mode.

huawei xmage

In the XMAGE image style, Huawei has also established its own color image style. The image color research team brought in by Huawei brings together expert teams from seven Huawei research institutes around the world, including China, Finland, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

The submissions of 3.3 million+ users of the Huawei New Image Contest are samples to establish Huawei’s exclusive image style, which is required by: Realism, moisturizing, transparency, and breathing.

In terms of color, Huawei has also cooperated with the Color Research Institute of the Art and Research Center of Chinese Tsinghua University, based on the theoretical basis of the “color science” system, to extract the color tone of the XMAGE style.

On the basis of XMAGE’s primary color, it does not change the inherent color of the object and only adjusts from the two dimensions of saturation and lightness. Under the condition of retaining the content of the photo, it presents a bright and bright tone, forming a complete and systematic color tone system.

Huawei Mate 50 Pro camera:

Huawei has brought in a new camera design with ring shape-crystalized aesthetics. However, the real power of this phone lies in the XMAGE imaging technology that enhances the image quality and provides you with a vibrant photograph.

On the other hand, there is a 50MP main ultra-aperture camera that allows you to adjust the aperture, of which you choose modes between 10 different aperture sizes to blur and depth of failed according to your preference.

There’s the super night mode that now takes over 24% more light than previous Huawei flagships thanks to the large f/1.4 aperture sensor and RYYB color system. That’s not it, Huawei’s XD Fusion Pro image engine helps the sensor to increase brightness and maintain contrast to correct your night mode images.

You will get a 120-degree ultra wide-angle camera that could capture all of the scenes into one landscape image. While there’s a large than life zoom system that could reach up to 200X with a single tap thanks to the periscope camera.

Furthermore, the ultra aperture technology will help you to take better than ever macro shots of the smallest objects.

These are just some briefings about the rear camera, now let’s look at the front setup. The Huawei Mate 50 Pro brings a notched head to include various sensors as well as a powerful 13MP ultra wide angle camera with f/2.4 aperture and a 3D depth sensing camera. These help you to create perfect ultra wide angle photos, low light selfies, better portraits, and a lot more.
