After the events of the U.S. ban, Huawei had to reduce its capacity of building new smartphones, which result in low yield and sales, and now, Xiaomi claims that it took over 50 million of Huawei’s users.

During the Xiaomi Investment Day, Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group said that Huawei has lost over 80 million smartphone users, of which, Xiaomi took over 50 million.

This is quite a big statement made by the head of the Chinese phone maker as Huawei was forced to leave the market due to the restrictions on manufacturing.

After not meeting the market requirements the share of Huawei’s smartphone market declined severely in both the Chinese and global markets. While other smartphone makers are the ones that got most of the benefits.

Xiaomi and Huawei

From the rest, Apple took over 20 million users and Honor grabbed 10 million, which accounts for an overall 80 million Huawei users.

According to the data revealed by Canalys, the global smartphone market ranked Samsung first and Apple second, which has increased by 22 percent and 19 percent respectively. While Xiaomi declined to 13 percent.

Aside from Apple and Samsung, other smartphone maker has declined. On this matter, Xiaomi’s president said that the decline in his firm is related to various reasons such as currency depreciation, chips from shortage to surplus, and intensified competition, the global mobile phone market will decline by 12% in 2022, of which the Chinese market will decline by 13%.

Why not?

It was an opportunity for all of the smartphone companies with an open opportunity to grab Huawei’s market share and it fell directly into their lap without doing anything.

Huawei and some other tech giants have jointly released a new rule that can help with app-shaking issues. Alongside the solution, the new rule will also improve the user experience with the third-party applications on the device.

To those who are unaware, app shake is a very convenient feature to use. With a simple shaking gesture on your phone, you can launch any app and start using it without touching the home screen. All you have to do is allow some settings for the particular app.

App-Shaking Issue

So far, the App shake function remained at the top of the feature section. It has provided a rich experience to consumers and has enhanced the way of using an application on a smart gadget.

Although in addition to many positive roles of the respective function, there are some negative points as well. Sometimes, the shake function becomes too sensitive for a few third-party apps. As a result, the apps get open even at a slight jerk or movement.

Moreover, it automatically leads to the advertisement page. Thus, users often get disturbed by such activities on their handsets due to the app-shaking function.

A solution to App Shaking Issue

To end the app-shaking issues Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Alibaba, the China Academy of Information and Technology and many other companies come together and formulated a new rule.

This rule comes under the “App User Rights Protection Evaluation Specification Part 7: Deception, Misleading and Compulsive Behaviour” (T/TAF 078.7-2022)

According to this rule, tech makers will make amendments to phone manufacturing. Consequently, the shaking function will be timed for 15m/s2. Meanwhile, the rotation angle of the screen should be at least 35 degrees. The shaking action should only take place for 3 seconds.

The rule officially came into existence on November 25, 2022. Apart from these tweaks, there aren’t many details about the respective rule and its specifications. However, how the new segments will use and run users’ data and security aspects is still to question to answer.

Let’s see what new changes will the giant manufacturers will bring in their devices in the time ahead.

Huawei and some other popular brands in China (Oppo, vivo, and Xiaomi) have associated to bring the UFSC fusion fast charging protocol. Ultimately, this protocol will be a great help in providing fast charging compatibility among various tech giants.

The well-known Weibo tipster @DigitalChatStation has informed that the UFSC fusion fast charging protocol led by Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, and vivo is about to land. The protocol will improve the fast charging integration between different smartphone manufacturers and will make their charging solutions universal.

Huawei has been running in the race for technologies for a long time and understands the basic demands of users in this field. Among several essential features of a device, the users mainly look for the battery power and charging efficiency.

So far, the Chinese manufacturer has built the Super Turbocharging mechanisms that cure battery life anxiety with 100W of fast charging. However, every brand has its fast charging technology which often doesn’t work on a universal level.

Thus, to change this independent manner, all four companies decided to bring on the Universal Fast Charging Specification (UFSC) to the surface. The main supporter of this agreement is the Telecom Terminal Industry Association.

Huawei UFSC fast charging protocol

How UFSC fusion will prove a benefit?

Eventually, this technique will support effective fast charging and unites the adapters and terminals from various brands and manufacturers. At present, the general maximum power of this protocol is 40W which is just incomparable with the private Turbocharging (100W).

But, the second stage of this technology exhibits 65W. Hence, the availability of general power will gradually increase with time to a higher level. Alternatively, this initiative will solve the problem of incompatibility of inter-matching fast charging. Moreover, it will create a fast, safe, and adaptable charging scenario for users.

The tipster further shares another piece of news in this matter. Consequently, the integration of fast charging technology has been successfully implemented. Some of the major devices have begun imposing the new technology and soon the list will give space to more models.

Today, BMW Group of automobiles has shared some official as well as beneficial information. Finally, the company has decided to expand the BMW digital key feature to several mobile phone models including the Chinese tech giant – Huawei.

Up to this point, the auto company has brought the feature only on the massive Android and iOS platforms. But now, it’s time to stretch the roots of the respective function to more surface, and let everyone enjoy the benefits.

According to the information, BMW Group will introduce the digital key function to Huawei, Honor, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and other brands in November this year. Apart from the devices, the digital key also supports 10 BMW models, including the latest BMW 3 series, the new BMW 5 series, the pure electric BMW iX3, and more.

BMW Digital Key Feature

Concerned with the feature, the BMW digital key option is quite simple and easy to operate. As the name reflects, it usually works for opening the lock of the automation. All you have to do is, place the upper side of your phone close to the sensor on the driver’s side door handle.

Huawei BMW digital key

Once the user completes the digital key activation, he/she won’t require the internet connection to unlock the door or start the vehicle. Besides, even the low battery of your handset won’t be able to affect the BMW digital key function.

App icons are there to identify an app and allow you to open it with a tap. However, these app icons are different in each software and we’ll be going to conduct a comparison altogether.

For this app icons comparison, we’ve picked some of the most popular and used mobile software – iOS and custom Android skins from Huawei, Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Oppo including EMUI, One UI, OxygenOS, MIUI respectively, and more.

We’ve also included stock Android 13 in this race, so you’ll be able to review it as well.

One UI:

One UI is the official sponsor of Android and it’s One UI 5.0 has not changed a bit. In terms of exploration, the icons are colorful and consist of white icons and solid colors. The icons have a background shape of a rounded rectangle.

This Android skin also has Android apps, and their icons look way better on white backgrounds as compared to Samsung’s own apps.

one ui 5.0 app icons

EMUI:

Time to move on to Huawei and its latest global software – EMUI 12, we’ve not included HarmonyOS 2 because it shares the same icon measurements. EMUI 12 app icons have 3D effects in icons such as Settings, which looks very interactive. Also, other icons such as the camera is clearly visible to the user.

On the other hand, solid icons such as Message, dialer, and AppGallery also have finishings with light and dark color combinations. That looks better.

Huawei phones don’t come with Google apps, yet the app icon design hits right into the focus.

emui 12 app icons

iOS:

iOS is a self-originator and it has indirectly taught many Android phone makers how to create app icons. It’s not praised but it’s reality, iOS app icons are balanced while mixing – contrast, dark colors, and the logo of the icon, and the result of this sum results in a shape and easy-to-find icon design.

The one that I’ve seen on iOS reflects when the device installs software update and the Settings icon animations accordingly. It looks realistic, as it is.

ios 16 app icons

OxygenOS

OnePlus has a design inspired by stock Android, simple and plain throughout the user interface (UI). However, OxygenOS 13 is different and Material You has helped OnePlus to create new aesthetics for the users.

Let’s come to the icons, Yes, icons are sharp and the background shape of each icon is filled decently and looks sharp. Throughout the UI, the camera icon has really got my attention.

oneplus

MIUI

Next comes MIUI, Xiaomi has decided to put its app icons inside a rounded rectangle, which creates a subtle effect in visibility and brings in a good feel of interaction. Meanwhile, most of the app section is filled with Google apps such as phone, message, and chrome.

Therefore, MIUI app icons also fall into the good category.

MIUI

Stock Android:

The beginning of all of the custom Android software skins is called Stock Android and the icons are plain and simple, while Android app icons remain in the middle of all user experiences and suit best all smartphone users.

However, the one thing that could not go unmentioned comes under dynamic icons that allow you to change the entire app icons into two-color scheme that has a separate impact on the user and it looks marvelous.

Other Android phone makers will also come with dynamic icons but no one can do this better than stock Android.
