There have been a lot of people including ourselves asking about Huawei EMUI 12 for Honor smartphones. While we were waiting for this rollout, Honor is actually sending EMUI 12 based Magic UI 5.2 for smartphones.

A week ago, our fellow reader Adrian shared a screenshot of the Magic UI 5.2 rollout for the Honor 20 smartphone. The shared screenshot reveals more information about the software, which shows EMUI 12 in the base.

Earlier this year, we reported that Honor will release EMUI 12 for Honor smartphones. However, the company showed no sign of this since then.

Meanwhile, Honor smartphones users gave us questions one after another related to this upgrade. But it’s finally here and it’s happening. Don’t worry, we got some proof to cement this claim.

What did we find?

While researching further, we found that the Honor 20 is not the only smartphone to get Magic UI 5.2. Because EMUI 12 is also upgrading other Honor smartphones such as the top-tier Honor 30 and V30 series.

Honor magic ui 5.2 emui 12

That’s not it, Honor is randomly sending EMUI 12 build for old budget devices such as Honor 10 Lite, and Honor V20 as well. However, some other users of the same models are still waiting for the OTA update.

Availability?

For your information, the Magic UI 5.2/EMUI 12 is spotted in Russia and we’ve not found this occurring in another market.

May take some time to expand:

We’re certain this rollout is in the initial stage and may take some to reach every eligible Honor model. Also, we’re not expecting a fast rollout.

Instructions:

If you want to check for the latest software update, visit Settings > System & updates, tap on Software updates and then CHECK FOR UPDATES. Alternatively, we suggest you to also check for new firmware via the My Huawei app.

Before you proceed, make sure you get a backup of important data and maintain internal storage to download Magic UI 5.2/EMUI 12 on your Honor smartphone.

Changelog:

This update introduces the intuitive Magic UI 5.2 interface, which provides the Device Interactions section of the Control Panel and various useful features.

Magic UI 7:

Information suggests that Honor Magic UI 7 will base on the Android 13 operating system, the company could bring in new optimizations such as Material You dynamic theming and other important adaptations from the new Android version.

Recently, Google has rolled out the final Android 13 beta for the testers and preparing for the next phase – the launch of this new Android software. Past Android 13 launch, Honor may also launch a new flagship phone featuring Honor Magic UI 7 and rollout it for previously launched devices.

That’s not, it’s expected that Honor will focus on smart features with this upcoming Magic UI software version. On the other hand, the company will include a new control center feature in place of old quick settings.

Other than these, the Honor chief put some light on the progress and what Honor is aiming at.

Zhao Ming emphasized that Honor adheres to the high-end strategy of building brand and quality when going to overseas markets. He believes that although the global general situation has encountered challenges and difficulties, and overseas inventory clearance at low prices is very common, Honor will adhere to its core business logic closed-loop and operate prudently.

“To enter the global market for Honor, our core logic and philosophy is not to rely on low prices. We must rely on quality and experience. We must have enough strategy and patience to build a global high-end brand.”

Honor has recently released Magic UI 6.0 software, which is, according to Honor, is based on Android 12. The former Huawei subsidiary has announced this latest software during the launch of the Honor Magic V foldable smartphone. However, there are some questions that the Honor has copied Magic UI 6.0 from the Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0 operating system, as it looks almost the same in terms of appearance. On this matter, Honor CEO, Zhao Ming has come up with a response to the critics.

On the sidelines of the Honor Magic V launch, George answered some of the media’s questions. One of which especially spotlight this question, of which, George answered that Honor Magic UI 6.0 is an operating system and software system of Honor.

The Honor chief said Magic UI 6.0 has a different philosophy compared to Huawei HarmonyOS and has its own direction to go, differently.

Honor Magic UI 6.0 Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0

What to know:

Although, the core of Magic UI 6.0 is based on Android 12 but its user interface including widgets, snippets, and most of the user interface is identical to HarmonyOS operating system. It’s simple to judge the similarities among both of these software systems.

Huawei and Honor:

Following the mega partition between the two firms in 2020, Huawei and Honor went separate ways. Post-separation, Honor established its supply chain and got access to prohibited components that were banned with Huawei.

The company has retained most of its employees and Geroge is promoted from head to CEO. Therefore, it works independently and launches a high-end smartphone similar to Honor Magic V.

High-end is not a slogan, and it’s not just something that can be solved by determination. Similarly, it is not that Honor comes out of Huawei’s system, so it should take Huawei’s high-end share as a matter of course. Honor still has to build its own core capabilities.” He said that to Apple It is not unexpected to win more high-end shares.
