In terms of software, Huawei P30 and P30 Pro comes with EMUI 9.1 then upgraded to EMUI 10.0, 10.1, and upgraded to EMUI 11. On the other hand, HarmonyOS 2 operating system for the Huawei P30 device has been released in China and is yet to release in the global market.

However, Huawei does have confirmed the EMUI 12 rollout as a major update for the global Huawei P30 series consumers and it has almost rolled out the software for the corresponding models. Read more about EMUI 12 features here.

August 12, 2019:

EMUI 9.1.0.193 update for Huawei P30 and P30 Pro adds Night Mode for the front camera, users will be able to click night-time selfies with more light. The update also adds a new video editing feature, enhances fingerprint recognition, and installs the August 2019 security patch.

July 24, 2019:

EMUI 9.1.0.186 update for Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, this update optimizes the fingerprint unlocking performance and enhances the fingerprint unlocking experience.

Additionally, it improves the audio playback effect of some game scenes. This update also added the latest July 2019 security patch. It is currently available in China but will soon be available to other regions.

July 11, 2019:

EMUI 9.1.0.175 update for Huawei P30 and P30 Pro brings DC dimming, which reduces frequent flashing or flickering of the smartphones with AMOLED display, causing eye strain.

There is also a new ultra-low latency Bluetooth update that helps reduce the delay in audio sending from the device directly to your connected headsets and speakers. The update is also said to improve the speed and consistency of the in-display fingerprint reader, optimize the camera, fix display colors, optimize phone run stability, and installs May 6, 2019 security patch.

Particularly for P30 Pro, the update adds AR Measure to the automatic measurement of certain objects. Moreover, it also includes the May 2019 security patch.

April 28, 2019:

EMUI 9.1.0.153 update for Huawei P30 and P30 Pro installs Dual-View video mode – In this mode, two rear cameras work at the same time allowing you to watch the overall view of the game and zoom into the players’ exciting actions. You can enjoy the moment from different perspectives with the Huawei Dual-View Video mode.

March 30, 2019:

EMUI 9.1.0.124 update for Huawei P30 and P30 Pro improved the Fingerprint unlock performance. The update also fixed a serious issue with the device’s Always-on display. It enables third-party application notifications when the screen is off, previously it does not show any notification.

Also, fixes an issue that caused audio and video to go out of sync during the playback of Instagram videos recorded in hands-free mode. It fixes an issue where emails with the attachment.

For Huawei Mate 20 X 5G, the company used two 7nm chips including a Kirin 980 + Balong 5000 to provide NSA/SA dual-mode 5G support. The 40W Huawei SuperCharge, 15W Huawei Wireless Quick Charge, and large batteries work in tandem to provide users with the best battery life.

The Matrix Camera System includes Leica Ultra Wide Angle Lens which lets users not only see wider but also closer with its new macro distance capability. Available in 6.53-inch, 6.39-inch, and 7.2-inch sizes, the Huawei Mate 20 Series encompasses four devices: Huawei Mate 20, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, Huawei Mate 20 X, and PORSCHE DESIGN Huawei Mate 20 RS.

The Huawei Mate 20 Series ships with an Android 9-based EMUI 9 operating system and is upgradable to EMUI 12. On the other hand, it runs HarmonyOS 2 in the Chinese market. Meanwhile, it could upgrade on both EMUI 13 and HarmonyOS 3.

In the past few months, Huawei has rolled out the EMUI 12-based software for Huawei Mate 20 Lite, in major regions across the globe. As for now, most of the Mate 20 models have already been upgraded with new software rollouts.

Most of the users with this issue rported running EMUI 10.0 or 11, while a few others were running EMUI 10.1. Users reported that they failed to fetch the latest firmware with EMUI 12 on their devices.

Meanwhile, some of them cannot even install a recent security patch. It’s also a requirement for the osnumers to settle up a required EMUI version to install EMUI 12.

Furthermore, it’s not occurring on one device, as different models of Huawei P30, Mate 20, Nova 5T, P30 Lite as well as other mid-range devices has also reported the same issue.

Currently, there’s no specific issue detected regarding these device but we’ve observed that it is occurring widely. We also want to mentioned that it’s not a new problem. As we’ve already seen these in the past.

Any solution?

There are various key aspect of this issue, including gradual rollout, Huawei expands software updates in batches, which takes weeks to rollout for differnet devices.

On the other hand, availability of the software may also depend on the country and the region. Furthermore, the phone may have lost its regular software support.

But the device that we were talking about are all eligible for EMUI 12, in that case, rollout dates could be the possible culprit on this matter.

Moreover, Huawei ID’s region and selected country could also be responsible for such issue, as the Huawei ID associated with the device and time zone may also affect update rollout.

According to the information, the EMUI August 2022 security update for Huawei devices will bring fixes for various issues in the system found in the July 2022 update builds or older. Don’t forget that the company will soon send this update to the consumers over the OTA update method.

As revealed in the bulletin, Huawei EMUI August 2022 security patches 2 critical bugs found in the EMUI system, while there are 10 high-level CVEs fixed in the high section. On the other hand, there were no new issues noted in the medium and low level of security aspects.

However, the patch also fixes vulnerabilities found in the previous updates, which counts a total of 23. Talking specifically, this patch has its own importance, as it fixes issues in storage leak, memory overwriting, My Huawei App bugs, basic software framework,l settings module, security access, and more.

These issues have been noted for versions – EMUI 10, EMUI 11, and EMUI 12. The security also covers some aspects of Magic UI software of Honor devices that were launched before the Huawei and Honor breakup.
