Samsung has decided to remain behind the line and announced its failure to install the Satellite Communication feature in the recently released Galaxy S23 but Honor doesn’t seem to repeat this mistake, as it has now a certificate to use capability in its smartphones.

According to the information, China National Intellectual Property Administration AKA CNIPA has published an application filed by Honor. It is now authorized and revealed the company’s approval for “an electric device with integrated Beidou short message feature”.

This confirms that Honor is ready to debut this satellite communication in smartphones. However, an exact date or model has not been disclosed at the moment. Honor Magic 5 series will launch on February 27 at MWC 2023 Barcelona and it’s suitable for such technology in Honor’s campaign.

Honor satellite communication

The satellite communication technology allows you to send short text messages with China’s Beiduo satellite. However, Apple is using Globalstar satellite services in the U.S. If required, the phone will let you send a short message when you don’t have a mobile network at all. This feature comes into play in any emergency use case.

Huawei was the first to launch satellite communication in the industry and the company has already planned to launch the second generation feature to this satellite-connected smartphone feature.

On February 1, Samsung launched its latest flagship, Galaxy S23. Still, it doesn’t bring a trendy and futuristic feature called satellite communication AKA SOS satellite emergency message, on this front, Samsung failed, while it’s a win for Huawei and Apple.

Before we pick a shovel and dig deep into this matter, let’s take a brief look at satellite communication. The feature let you send a text message (one way) to a receiver via satellite. The feature could be used in an emergency when the mobile network is not available at all. However, its availability is limited.

Now back to TM Roh, yep, Samsung’s President and Head of Mobile Experience Business said that the company remains limited because it needs to be matured.

While speaking to CNET, Roh said “When there is the right timing, infrastructure, and the technology [is] ready, then of course for Samsung Galaxy, for our mobile division, we would also actively consider adopting this feature as well,”

He mentioned that satellite communication is one to make the phone better but Samsung is making its own efforts to improve the user experience such as better 5G connectivity.

“I do not believe that is the end-all or be-all of the solutions to ensure peace of mind among users,” he said.

Failed:

There was a time when Samsung used to rush on the lane to win the race for new features. However, this time, even Apple won over the South Korean company to install satellite communication in iPhone 14 series.

We may agree that the technological innovation level of satellite communication is at the initial stage but Samsung’s top brass saying that “it’s not yet ready”, kind of sounds like a “failure”.

Samsung Galaxy

Huawei Mate 50 Pro:

Samsung failed but Huawei continues to innovate technologies such as satellite communication even with grave difficulties originated by the U.S. sanctions. In the face of challenges, Huawei is bringing new features that make a true difference among smartphone consumers.

Moving from the first initial version, Huawei has already planned to install a new satellite communication with the new Mate X3 foldable phone or P60 series. Read more about that in the article below.

With the launch of the Mate 50 series, Huawei introduced the world’s first smartphone with satellite communication features. The feature is a whole new technology, which is followed by Apple in iPhone 14 series.

In simple terms, Huawei satellite communication allows you to send emergency SMS to a receiver with a satellite orbiting Earth. However, this technology doesn’t require a mobile network and helps you to communicate as an SOS via Satellite. For your information, Huawei Mate 50 series uses China’s Beidou satellite to pass messages to the receiver.

Current Gen:

According to the information, the current generation of Huawei satellite communication only supports one-way messages. It means a user can only send messages and won’t receive them. This is good as an initial approach but there are some improvements being made for the next generation.

Next generation:

Past inputs reveal that Huawei is working on two-way communication, which will allow you to send and receive messages. We are also expecting Huawei to improve the latency of the smartphone’s connection for fast messaging.

On the other hand, the second feature may enable sending a short voice message from one person to another. Initially, short voice messages could adapt to one-way protocol but we require more information.

For now, Huawei has not made any official announcement on this new feature but there’s a lot to know. But Huawei’s new foldable phone, Mate X3 could be the one to bring two-way communication. Then it’ll be followed into the P60 series. Later on, Huawei could add an additional functionality to the Mate 60 series.

Huawei Mate 50 brings eye-catching features to attract consumers. Undoubtedly, huge credit goes to the phone’s hardware and software capabilities. On the other hand, the flagship phone is capable of bringing something to the table that is missing from a flagship.

Today, we are going to look into the dynamic Huawei Mate 50 features that make it an excellent choice for your next phone.

Huawei Mate 50 features

Although Mate 50 series offers plenty but we’ll be targeting 5 for this article:

  • Satellite Communication
  • Smart Scan Code
  • SuperHub Station
  • Variable Aperture
  • Emergency Battery Mode
Beidou Satellite Communication

Huawei Mate 50 is the first smartphone to carry a satellite communication feature. The company has done seamless work to prepare the phone with such advanced technology. As a result, now you can remain connected to your friends and family even without a network.

How does satellite communication work? The feature facilitates the phone through satellite when local connection services are not available.

You can make calls, and send messages or small texts without stressing about the phone’s network or extra data costs.

Interestingly, you can even send a message to those contacts that do not have this feature in their handset.

Huawei Mate 50 features

Intelligent Scanning Code

Huawei has made this feature a little more advance and efficient for its users. The feature comes along with the HarmonyOS 3 operating system as “intelligent scanning code”.

Unlike traditional scanners, the smart scanning code function is faster and more convenient. To access the feature, you only have to face your Mate 50 rear camera to the QR code. Further, a pop-up box will appear on your screen. Now tap on the QR code icon.

SuperHub:

This is a software feature and SuperHub makes it easy for you to share files and fast.

Instead of copy-paste texts or documents, the feature allows you the drag-and-drop gesture (similar to a PC). As a result, you can drag images, texts, and documents from their source to the SuperHub. Thereafter, you can edit and pull out the respective content from the station.

Variable Aperture:

Huawei Mate 50 is powered by XMAGE imaging technology. But another major aspect of the optical camera section is the new variable aperture. Ultimately, the six-blade aperture allows you to maintain the light on the sensor.

Also, you can adjust the camera aperture between f/1.4 and f/4. In comparison to the normal aperture with two stops, Mate 50 powerful aperture exhibits 10 stops and easily adjusts the light exposure.

The aperture plays wonders with the depth of field and background. In other words, you will find better blur effects and highlights in the images. Eventually, the automatic mode and professional mode make the snaps more realistic.

Huawei Mate 50 features

Emergency Battery Mode

This battery mode allows you to enjoy extra three hours of screen time, or 12 minutes on calls, even at 1 percent of battery. Besides, you can flash or turn off the codes 10 times and can scan a code 4 times in the meanwhile.

As soon as the power level reaches 5%, the phone triggers a notification saying “enter an emergency mode in 60 seconds”. This happens as the battery begins activating the preserved cells in the device. Then the entire procedure supplies enough energy that your device can run for more time.

There is still a lot to explore in the Huawei Mate 50 and we expect you to give it a chance.

Huawei and its satellite communication are once again in the headlines. After Apple, it looks like Samsung is planning to follow Huawei and implement satellite communication technology on its flagship gadgets.

Satellite Communication technology is gradually becoming a trend in the market. In recent times, we come across several tech makers that are trying to adopt the respective feature for their devices or operating systems.

After Huawei, satellite communication enlisted Apple, Google (Android 14), and now Samsung. While Apple has already offered the benefits of satellite features with iPhone 14 series, Google and Samsung are in the preparation phase.

The latest information reveals that Samsung has associated with Iridium cooperation and is finalizing the satellite communication development for its next flagship smartphone – the Galaxy S23 series.

In our previous reports, we mentioned that Samsung is looking for a satellite connectivity provider other than Globalstar. This was so because Apple already merged with Globalstar for satellite features.

Thus, Samsung decided to take different steps in this tech concept. Eventually, it seems like the Korean tech maker has found the right companion to proceed with the new technology.

Samsung and Iridium

Speaking of the Iridium group, the cooperation utilizes the 66 low-orbit communication satellites. This framework offers effective voice and data communication services for users without any network hindrances.

On the flip side, the info states that Samsung has been working on satellite communication technology for the past two years. In the meantime, the company was dealing with antenna challenges as to how to make it a compact and power-efficient element.

Consequently, just like Huawei and Apple, Samsung’s main objective is to provide its users with immersive voice, messages, and image transmission facilities. And who knows, we could find the satellite tech with Galaxy S23 in the first quarter of 2023.

Satellite Communication – A long race!

Huawei is the first company to bring satellite communication features with the dynamic Mate 50 series. Ultimately, the feature is capable of relieving communication services even in low-area networks.

Thus, a user with Huawei Mate 50 smartphone can conduct calls, send a 19-20 characters text, scan a code 8-10 times, and generate trajectory maps and locations.

On the other hand, Huawei is making the corresponding feature more useful with the Mate 60. Yes, the internal tweaks suggest that the new version of this technology will enable two-way communications, sending voice messages, and making short voice calls as well.

It won’t be wrong to say that when it comes to technology and innovation, Huawei remains one step ahead.

Know More: Huawei Mate 60 may launch new Satellite Communication Features

Apple iPhone 14 series – SOS feature

Following Huawei, Apple also launched the iPhone 14 series with satellite features. It has implemented the Emergency SOS feature which combines with the software and connects antennas directly to the satellite.

As a result, this mechanism starts messaging functions with emergency services. Being an iPhone 14 user, you can use the feature under low-network or Wi-Fi coverage.

Android 14 is also on the list!

Yes, Android 14 has also appeared in the satellite communication headlines. The information states that Google is also making efforts and could initiate satellite features on the next coming Android version.

In the time ahead, we could see many competitors in this tech field. But it would be worth seeing which manufacturer will remain in the first position regarding satellite communication.

Huawei Mate 60 series will bring a number of new features including the changes made to Satellite Communication. It’s a revolutionary futuristic technology that will soon be adopted by other smartphone makers.

Inputs from Weibo tipster classmateguan, Huawei is working on the next generation of satellite communication technology. The new version will bring new features such as two way communication model, sending voice messages, and making short voice calls.

These are massive upgrades over the existing version that could only send text messages from one side. If Huawei is moving to launch new features, then we can surely wait to see that Huawei is preparing to improve connection stability.

However, the inclusion of voice messages and calls is something you may look forward to.

To be mentioned, Huawei will launch these features gradually but first, the Chinese tech maker is likely to introduce two-way text sharing. While the rest of the additions may follow later on.

huawei mate 60 new satellite communication features

Satellite communication:

Huawei Mate 50 series is the first in the world to launch Satellite Communication, followed by iPhone 14 series. At work, the feature allows you to send text messages without a cellular network using a satellite. However, it’s more like an SOS message rather than a regular chat.

Satellite communication is a useful and innovative technology that saves the day when your phone runs out of cell phone connections. However, it surely needs improvement and the ones that are mentioned above will make it a mighty ability for any smartphone.

Huawei Mate 60:

If Huawei is intrigued to launch new Satellite Communication features then what would be better than Mate 60 series? Yeah, the P60 series could also become the phone of the choice but Huawei may choose to bring the initial version with the upcoming P series.

Currently, Huawei has not confirmed any specific information about this launch. Still, there are some leaks and information that kept us occupied for the time being.

It’s reported that Huawei will return to the dual flaghip launch trend in 2023 and we could expect the Mate 60 series in the second half of 2023. The phone is likely to get major improvements in camera and design but there’s more that we need to explore.

Huawei and its journey toward new patents will never get a stoppage. The company has recently issued a new and unique Huawei SMS sending patent, based on satellite communication. As usual, this segment has also packed some interesting tugs in its bag.

As per the reports, the latest Huawei patent carries the title “SMS sending method, related devices, equipment, and readable storage medium”. Alternatively, this gives the idea that the company could plan to work on new SMS features and their support for various smart gadgets.

On diving into the depths, we found that the patent suggests a useful method for sending short messages and readable storage media to relevant devices. Ultimately, this will help the users in the low network areas to obtain a universal short message service.

How the Unified SMS Sending will work?

Consequently, there will be two crucial parts in this whole SMS sending mechanism: the first terminal and the second terminal. The first terminal relying on the cellular network will transmit a short message to the second terminal.

Thereafter, the short message center will inspect whether the second terminal is in the satellite communication network or not. As soon as the center will identify the network location, it will prompt the information to the first terminal.

Once again, the first terminal will send the short message to the second terminal, so that now it can receive and react to the information. In this manner, it will help the users to connect with their noteworthy contacts at any time.

Up to this point, Huawei has attained a bunch of patents regarding satellite communication. And let’s not forget about the dynamic Mate 50 series that reflects the efficient Beidou feature in its core system.

In recent times, the company also brought communication methods and device applications related to the same satellite-oriented executions. On the flip side, the Mate Xs 2 is also in news to flourish the same function in the future. Yet, time will give us better answers over these speculations and patents.

Huawei and its satellite communication feature are tremendously trending around the world. Apple has also used this feature in iPhone 14 series. And it looks like, it’s time for Samsung to copy Huawei regarding satellite communication features.

Huawei technologies have always been a surprise to the world. Whether it is a new imaging system or design-oriented features, the company has served users with some awesome and eye-catching gadgets and attributes.

If we talk about the recent edition, the Chinese manufacturer has initiated a satellite communication feature with Mate 50 series. Following the lead, Apple also jumped on the ground and brought the respective part in its latest release (iPhone 14).

Ultimately, the two giant tech makers made the satellite subject quite popular in the market. And as a famous tech player, Samsung doesn’t want to remain behind in this race and is also planning to follow the same satellite communication path as Huawei.

Huawei Satellite communication Samsung

Samsung – A new member in satellite connectivity!

According to the newest information, the Korean company might introduce satellite connectivity functions to its high-profile Galaxy smartphones. Though Samsung is just planning for the moment, we can’t say how much time it will take to bring the feature to the surface.

On the other hand, the information also suggests that Samsung could turn its face to another satellite connectivity provider rather than Globalstar. Since Apple has already shaken its hands with Globalstar for receiving 85% of its current and future network capacity. Hence, it doesn’t seem like there is any space left for Samsung.

Yet, other satellite connectivity providers could help Samsung in this aspect. As per the reports, the company can take help from Starlink services to implement the satellite features on its handset products. But confirmation from the company side still awaits.

Speaking of the satellite communication feature, Apple has such techniques that can send a short SOS message in just 15 seconds. However, the condition is that the function is only applicable under a clear sky. Otherwise, it can take more than minutes. Overall, we can say that Huawei scored much better in this subject than others.
