Huawei releases first batch of App Signature service to resolve fake app scenarios

Huawei App Signature service

Huawei has been struggling with the App counterfeiting scenario for some time. Though the issue doesn’t affect much to the company. Yet, there was a need to arrive at the solution as soon as possible. Luckily, after making several efforts, Huawei has finally come up with the App Certification Signature label pilot service system.

Some of you might be wondering what is App Counterfeiting. Consequently, the term reflects a situation where a fake application claims to fulfill all the purposes of a user and can often appear as a harmful threat to the user’s device.

Every application in the App stores carries a unique identifier. These identifiers help the app developers to optimize, revamp, or eliminate the application from the store. However, some scammers stealthily use these unique codes and set them on their app programs.

As a result, the fake application will be able to control the original program and can impose any content. Besides, it can negatively impact the user’s gadgets by pouring out malware into the system.

App Signature Service System

Hence, to get rid of such a problem, Huawei came into contact with the China Academy and collaborated with the App Signature service system. The company has also initiated the first batch of app certifications for its applications. Till now, 583 users have already registered for this service and have issued 291 developer signature certificates.

Alternatively, this system coherently improves the app traceability across the systems. Moreover, it defines each link with a separate code or a digital signature and makes it tough for other individuals to crack this code. Thus, a user cannot install the app with the same identifiers but a different digital signature.

This certified signature label works as the identity card of the application. It improves the recognition method of the developer’s app and increases security while using the app. Following the lead, some more application distributors such as 360 Mobile and Xiaomi have also participated in this thoughtful activity.
