As for now, Huawei Nova 5T runs EMUI 12.0.0.170 with December 2022 security patch but there could be more that is awaiting us. Other than EMUI 12, Huawei Nova 5T users are also looking toward EMUI 13. However, the tech maker is yet to launch EMUI 13 roadmap and eligible devices.

You can download the latest software update by visiting Settings > then tapping on System & updates and then selecting Software updates from the menu. Do note that the phone may take some time to reach to server and bring back the build version.

Huawei Nova 5T:

Huawei Nova 5T expands at 73.97mm, 154.25mm, and 7.87mm, and it weighs 174 grams. The phone comes in four colors – Crush green, Midsummer purple, black, and crush blue.

The display is a 6.26-inch screen with 16.7 million colors, a 96% color gamut, an LCD panel, and an FHD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels). The phone is powered by Kirin 980 octa-core chipset (2 x Cortex-A76 Based 2.6 GHz + 2 x Cortex-A76 Based 1.92 GHz + 4 x Cortex-A55 1.8 GHz) with Mali-G76 GPU and Dual NPUs.

This phone comes with EMUI 9.1, then upgraded to EMUI 10.0, EMUI 10.1, and EMUI 11, and it currently runs EMUI 12. It has a quad rear camera system including 48 MP (f/1.8 aperture AF) + 16 M (f/2.2 aperture FF) + 2 M (f/2.4 aperture FF) + 2 M (f/2.4 aperture FF), supports autofocus (phase focus, contrast focus).

The phone has a water drop notch to house a 32 MP, f/2.0 aperture, and supports fixed focal length.

According to the information, it boasts a 3750 mAh battery that you can recharge fast with a 22.5W charger. It supports GPS (L1 + L5 dual-band) / AGPS / Glonass / BeiDou / Galileo (E1 + E5a dual-band) / QZSS (L1 + L5 dual-band). Furthermore, it has Card reading mode / Point to point mode / Card simulation mode (make payment by SIM card, or HCE).

The phone maker is sending this software update with EMUI version 12.0.0.255 and an update package size of around 190MB. Similar to the other releases, the update is out in batches and may take some time to expand among different Huawei P30 Lite owners.

Meanwhile, you should know that the changelog is showing us security patches from December 2022. As of now, all Huawei phones already received this security version and these phones could be the first to dive into the next major software update.

Talking of which, Huawei has not announced an EMUI 13 rollout roadmap. However, there’s a lot that is needed to know. For the time being, we don’t have confirmation about EMUI 13 eligibility for P30 lite.

Currently, Huawei P30 lite models run EMUI 12, this was a surprising software update that Huawei dropped to the smartphone. Why? Because the phone was freeze cold after EMUI 10 and not received any of the follow-up major rollouts such as EMUI 10.1 or 11.

But the installation of EMUI 12 has reimagined the P30 lite smartphone and given consumers a better way to relive this device.

Huawei P30 Lite users can download the December 2022 EMUI software update via Settings, followed by System & updates, and then follow the on-screen content. Note that you can also check for a new version via the My Huawei app.

There are some common safety precautions that you can take such as backing up important data. While the phone will automatically delete the downloaded OTA package once the installation is finished.

Moreover, the phone will restart and we suggest you give it a few minutes to adjust the background process and provide a smoother experience.

As mentioned above, the update will take some time to reach all P30 lite users, so try to check the upgrade manually, if an OTA notification doesn’t appear.

I get it, the company has not released the new EMUI 13 for old devices. Yet, we’re here to talk about software that is not even announced. On that, we’ve to explain a few things before we jump to a conclusion.

Dual flagship:

The past report reveals that Huawei will launch dual flagships this year. It will be the first time when Huawei will launch the P series and Mate series (traditional) smartphones in the same year.

While it was 2020 when the company unveiled Huawei P40 and Mate 40 series. After that, the company only brought – the P50 series in 2021 and Mate 50 series in 2022.

Two software:

Before 2021, Huawei followed two different flagship strategies, and these two phones were packed with two versions of EMUI.

For example, the Huawei P40 provides EMUI 10.1 and Huawei Mate 40 delivers EMUI 11. Interestingly, the tradition previously followed by P30 and Mate 30 with EMUI 9.1 and EMUI 10 respectively.

But in the past two years, this break in dual flaghip, allowed Huawei to only use one major software for all of its devices.

How?

Huawei P50 was launched in 2021 with the new EMUI 12 pre-installed. While Mate 50 series with EMUI 13 in the following year.

What’s next?

In China, Huawei is preparing HarmonyOS 3.1 to mark its entrance in the first quarter of 2023. To be mentioned, it could be featured with the Huawei P60 series, which will also debut around Q1. Meanwhile, HarmonyOS 3 was installed on Mate 50 series.

Keeping the fact that the Huawei P60 series may also meet the global market, we can’t deny the possibility. That Huawei may introduce this new flaghip to global consumers with a collection of features in EMUI 13.1.

For now, Huawei has not made any official announcement on this matter but we could take it as an early opening for this discussion. Before that, we want to check the roadmap for the EMUI 13 rollout and we’re eagerly waiting for the release.

According to the changelog, the latest firmware update comes with EMUI 12 version 12.0.0.170. The update package size is 217 megabytes. However the software update is rolling out in batches and it should be downloaded immediately, as it appears.

This last EMUI update of 2022 for Huawei Nova 5T comes amid the wait of EMUI 13. Yes, even after three months of listing, Huawei has not published any updates on this upcoming EMUI version.

Huawei Nova 5T users can download this update via Settings > System & updates, followed by Software updates and then CHECK FOR UPDATES. You will have to wait for a few minutes until the phone connects to the server and fetch the update.

If available, Huawei Nova 5T users can press “DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL” to start downloading the OTA package. Don’t forget that this would take some time to complete the EMUI package.

Huawei Nova 5T was launched with EMUI 9.1 and upgrade over EMUI 10, EMUI 10.1, EMUI 11 and currently runs EMUI 12.

The phone comes sports a 6.26 inch of LCD screen with all view FHD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels) and 97% screen to body ratio. The phone has 6GB of RAM + 128GB of internal storage. It is powered by Kirin 980 octa-core chipset, Mali-G76 GPU, and has side fingerprint scanner.

The phone has quad camera system, which takes high quality photographs thanks to its 48 megapixels of primary camera with f/1.8 aperture. The camera system also includes a 16 MP f/2.4 aperture ultra wide angle camera along with 2MP macro camera and 2 MP bokeh camera.

The phone also brings a 32MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture for front photos.

Also, these types of updates are released in batches. Hence it may take some more time to expand for all of the Huawei P30 series users around the globe.

However, there are a lot of speculations and wait growing among consumers about the new EMUI 13. But Huawei remained silent on the rollout or its upgrade procedure. Still, people are looking forward to getting this new software onboard as soon as possible.

The new EMUI version is part of Huawei’s monthly smartphone software improvement program and Huawei P30 devices fall under the quarterly upgrade section.

After the launch, Huawei P30 phones have been upgraded with EMUI 10, 10.1, 11 and it currently, runs EMUI 12. The latest EMUI version has various features that are better than EMUI 11. However, it would be nice to see this phone running EMUI 13. We’ll have to wait to see that happen.

Back in September, Huawei rolled out a new software update for the Mate 20 Pro but it only brought in system optimizations for the EMUI software.

Meanwhile, Huawei has not released any details on Mate 20’s EMUI 13 upgrade status. Hence, it’s quite long for the corresponding smartphone owners to stay without a new firmware version.

On the other hand, the Huawei Mate 20 series is eligible to install a new software update in China. According to the information, the entire Mate 20 family can now register for HarmonyOS 3 beta program.

HarmonyOS 3 is the latest software that brings a bunch of new features and a better user interface. Interestingly, these features are derived also from EMUI 13.

Amid this development, Huawei Mate 20 Pro or other Mate 20 smartphones are looking for new software, feature drop, or security patch. Related to this, a user asked us whether his device is having some hardware issue or Huawei has removed it from the software updates cycle. But it doesn’t seems to be any issue with the smartphone at all.

To be mentioned, Huawei Mate 20 devices run EMUI 9.0 out of the box. However, these flaghip has later been upgraded with EMUI 9.1, EMUI 10.0, 10.1, EMUI 11, and then 12. The latest EMUI brings it a whole new user experience as compared to EMUI 11.

July 11, 2019:

EMUI 9.1.0.175 update for Huawei P30 and P30 Pro brings DC dimming, which reduces frequent flashing or flickering of the smartphones with AMOLED display, causing eye strain.

There is also a new ultra-low latency Bluetooth update that helps reduce the delay in audio sending from the device directly to your connected headsets and speakers. The update is also said to improve the speed and consistency of the in-display fingerprint reader, optimize the camera, fix display colors, optimize phone run stability, and installs May 6, 2019 security patch.

EMUI 9.1.0.153 update for Huawei P30 and P30 Pro installs Dual-View video mode – In this mode, two rear cameras work at the same time allowing you to watch the overall view of the game and zoom into the players’ exciting actions. You can enjoy the moment from different perspectives with the Huawei Dual-View Video mode.

March 30, 2019:

EMUI 9.1.0.124 update for Huawei P30 and P30 Pro improved the Fingerprint unlock performance. The update also fixed a serious issue with the device’s Always-on display. It enables third-party application notifications when the screen is off, previously it does not show any notification.

Also, fixes an issue that caused audio and video to go out of sync during the playback of Instagram videos recorded in hands-free mode. It fixes an issue where emails with the attachment.

For Huawei Mate 20 X 5G, the company used two 7nm chips including a Kirin 980 + Balong 5000 to provide NSA/SA dual-mode 5G support. The 40W Huawei SuperCharge, 15W Huawei Wireless Quick Charge, and large batteries work in tandem to provide users with the best battery life.

The Matrix Camera System includes Leica Ultra Wide Angle Lens which lets users not only see wider but also closer with its new macro distance capability. Available in 6.53-inch, 6.39-inch, and 7.2-inch sizes, the Huawei Mate 20 Series encompasses four devices: Huawei Mate 20, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, Huawei Mate 20 X, and PORSCHE DESIGN Huawei Mate 20 RS.

The Huawei Mate 20 Series ships with an Android 9-based EMUI 9 operating system and is upgradable to EMUI 12. On the other hand, it runs HarmonyOS 2 in the Chinese market. Meanwhile, it could upgrade on both EMUI 13 and HarmonyOS 3.

In the past few months, Huawei has rolled out the EMUI 12-based software for Huawei Mate 20 Lite, in major regions across the globe. As for now, most of the Mate 20 models have already been upgraded with new software rollouts.

Back in July, Huawei began to rollout EMUI 12 for Y9 Prime 2019. Since then, Huawei started expanding it for more smartphones. This new software brings major new changes to the smartphone as it upgrades from EMUI 10 to EMUI 12. Yes, the device skipped EMUI 10.1 and 11 because it wasn’t eligible to grab these softwares.

As compared to EMUI 10, Huawei installs new user interface features such as control panel, notification panel, animations, large folders, system perfomance improvements and better system security. There are new options to manage interconnected devices that wasn’t available before.

EMUI 13:

EMUI 13 is also on the horizon but Huawei has not confirmed Y9 Prime 2019 smartphone’s slot for the upgrade roadmap.

Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 users can download this software update by going into Settings > tap on System & updates and then tap on Software updates to fetch the latest firmware rollout. Speaking of which, we suggest you to make a backup of important files to prevent unwated data loss.

EMUI 12 changelog for Huawei Y9 Prime 2019.

This update introduces EMUI 12, providing you with an intuitive interface, a multi-device section in the Control Pane, and various useful functions.

Innovative interaction

[Font]

• Supports more flexible font customization where you can adjust font size and width with a slider.

[Neuromorphic Theme]

• Applies the concept of neuromorphism to UI elements. It uses simple colors, tones, shadows, and highlights to achieve a more realistic effect.

[Smart Folders]

• Supports pressing and holding app folders on the home screen to enlarge them and make it easier to access the apps inside.

[Notification Panel and Control Panel]

• Allows you to swipe down from the top left of the screen to access the notification panel to view notifications, and swipe down from the top right of the screen to access the control panel to use shortcuts.
• Adds an audio control panel to the panel to make it easier to switch between different audio devices and apps.

[Multi Window]

• Allows you to easily multitask in split screen mode and send messages in a floating window while watching videos or gaming. Swipe in from the left or right edge of the screen and hold the screen to display the multi-window dock. Press and hold an app icon in the Dock and drag it to the side of the screen to share the screen. Alternatively, tap an app icon to view it in a floating window. You can later minimize the floating window to a floating bubble for easier access later.

[Huawei Share]

• Improves Huawei Share transfer speed for faster file sharing between Huawei phones, tablets, and laptops.

[MeeTime]

• Adds the MeeTime app that allows you to make HD voice and video calls over WiFi or a data network. Adds support for screen sharing during video calls, allowing you to tag and share key information in video chats. Gallery]

• In the Discover tab in Gallery, you can create video stories using preinstalled templates, special effects, and background music. The video editing features have been streamlined and provide further instructions on how to use the timeline and editing options.

Update Notes:

• This update will not delete your personal information. However, it is recommended to back up important data before updating.
• Some third-party apps that are not compatible with EMUI 12 may not work properly after updating. It is recommended to update these apps to the latest version in the app store.
• If you encounter problems during the update, call Huawei customer hotline or visit a Huawei customer service center.
• The home screen layout may be changed slightly.
• The system version can be rolled back to the official version EMUI 10 in HiSuite. If you roll back the system version, all your personal data will be deleted. Therefore, back up your data beforehand.
• The update package will be automatically deleted after the update is complete.
• For more functions, see Tips.
• After the update, the Wi-Fi Calling feature will be disabled for certain SIM cards by default. If needed, you can turn it on manually in Settings > Cellular network > Cellular data.
